The Best Way To Diet The Occasion Away

By Dom Tai

Who says you can't party when you're on a diet? A party is not a party if there are no food and drinks but it doesn't mean that you should deprive yourself from all of these just because you're watching your weight. You can actually enjoy and eat in a party and not worry about gaining some pounds.

You're not going to a party to just eat; you're on a diet, remember? So, it's smart not to go to a party hungry. Experts say that protein can hold off hunger. Snack on protein packed foods like eggs, cheese, yogurt and nuts before going to the party.

Lose the loose clothes. Experts say that wearing something loose will make you end up eating more than your clothes can handle. Try wearing a dress, blouse or shirt that won't hide your stomach. This will remind you that you can't get too full to keep your tummy in.

Impose discipline by setting some limits. After looking at the food on the table, decide on whether you're going to eat vegetable hors d'oeuvres only or you'll just pick one or two that will fill you for the rest of the party. To help you decide, vegetables are the number one choice as it keeps your mouth busy and keep you feeling full. You're safe with lean proteins as well such as fish, shrimp and chicken.

It's alright to drink in a party but beware as alcohol is known to boost your appetite. So if you're watching what you eat, don't forget to watch what you drink too. You can skip alcoholic drinks completely or drink it alternately with water or non-alcoholic and non-caloric drinks.

Plan your escape before the desserts come out. When the cupcakes appear, that's the perfect time you say goodbye or start talking to people. But if running away is not your thing, then you can just fill up half your plate with fruits instead of the sugary treats. You can also take a couple of bites of the most special dessert available. If you practice on these self-control tips, you'll definitely enjoy any party without the extra pounds!
