Making Your Home a Safe Sanctuary

By Amana Hernandez

Each of us has a responsibility to our community. We live with them, talk to them, and deal with them on our everyday life. This has been the way of living as has always been. People need to be very vigilant with the safety of our homes and our family.

A number of cases of poisoning at home are caused by Carbon Monoxide. But what is Carbon Monoxide and how do we know if there's a leak of it in our home? This substance is usually found on places where there's combustion. At your kitchen when you're using the stove or oven, the possibility of it being spread in the air is high especially if the gas pipes are not installed carefully. When the Petroleum gas is released and burnt during cooking, it turns to carbon dioxide but due to incomplete combustion, some of the gases turn to Carbon Monoxide instead.

But there would always be cases that we would not be able to identify if it is a risk issue at home. There have been some incidents of death and intoxication inside the house due to carbon monoxide. This is one of those deadly gases found inside the household. It is found on limited amount and may pose a threat to everybody if uncontrolled. If you are staying in a building, it is very important to get a safety check on the plumbing system.

The plumbing system plays a vital part in our safety at home. We don't just settle for an acceptable installation. This has to follow a certain safety guidelines mandated by law. A lot of complaints have been made due to some plumbing installation issues and it requires us to be vigilant in order to protect our household.

Another threatening hazard at home is the fireplaces. This works the same way as the stoves and ovens it's just that this is burning on an intense level. If there is an indoor garage at home that has its own door, it is important that before the engine starts, the door should be opened. When the engine is started, it would not have enough heat to burn all the fuels yet thus leaving some hints of Carbon Monoxide.

Carbon Monoxide is a deadly gas, which cannot be seen or even smelled. This is mostly spread from the kitchen where most combustion happens. When your petroleum gas incompletely burn, some gases would not turn into carbon dioxide. Some of it would produce carbon monoxide, which is definitely not healthy. There are different ways to prevent this.

First, you would always have to ensure that you get a good plumber to fix or do your pipes. Incorrect installation of piping leads to incomplete combustion on your stove or ovens. It is easy to get a good plumbing service. Online feedback and comments of a certain plumber service in a community is available. You can read those complaints made by families who hired a scam and their regrets in taking the bait.

In Bridgeville, there has already been some online feedback and blogs so people would know whom to hire for the plumbing works. This is a contribution from the community to making our household safe. Some websites have already posted some incidents of carbon monoxide intoxication and these are very serious matters that need to be handled very well. Some people will post their complaints regarding some plumbing services so you should be aware of whom those are.
