White blood cells are considered soldiers of the human body because they fight off harmful organisms such as viruses and bacteria. Obviously, when the body lacks white blood cells, the immune system will find it hard to ward of diseases. In order to increase or maintain a good number of white blood cells in the body, you have to include certain foods in your menu that makes that one possible.

What comes in to your mind whenever you hear the words "immunity" or "immune system boosters"? Vitamin C isn't it? Well that is because vitamin C is your super vitamin if you want to boost up your immune system. It's very good in the reproduction of white blood cells. Carrots, guavas and oranges are very good sources of vitamin C.

Beta-carotene is also a famous immune system booster just like vitamin C. And just like vitamin C it also contributes in the formation of infection-fighting cells. Beta-carotene has also been known to fight cancerous diseases and heart problems. Carrots are probably the most common source of this super vitamin. Other sources may include tomatoes, chili and squash.

The human body is being attacked by free radicals almost every time and without proper protection, cells can easily get injured and die. To help with this problem you need antioxidants like vitamin E. Vitamin E can mostly be found in olive oil, nuts and some fruits and vegetables. It is primarily involved in the function of the immune system and helps prevent blood to clot in blood vessels.

Aside from helping in the building of your biceps and triceps, protein is also found to increase white blood cell production. Without the right amount of protein, your body will find it hard to replace lost white blood cells with new ones. Make sure you include egg, dairy, lean meats and fish in your diet every day so that you'll have a rich amount of protein in your body.

Now there are other vitamins and nutrients that help in the reproduction of the body's white blood cells and you have only read a few here. Omega-3 is one of those. Omega-3 found in most seafood is a good antioxidant as well as a good booster of white blood cell count. If you still feel that you're not getting enough from your daily food intake, try multivitamins too.
