Responsible waste disposal is everyone's problem. Too many things are still making their way into landfills. This causes a number of problems. It is hard on the environment. It is also costing everyone more money. Recycling can help to reduce costs on products that you buy. It may even help to reduce dependency on foreign oil. Here are things that you can do to help.

Household hazardous waste

A lot of things in your household should not be placed in the trash. They need to be properly disposed of. If not, they will be a hazard to everyone. There are many other household items that are dangerous. Any type of chemicals need to be properly take care of. Paint cans and containers will be hazardous to landfills. Remember things that contain acid or alkaline, too.

When you replace that old car battery, bring the old one in. You will receive a core charge for this. This saves you from taking it to a recycling center. Old motor oil should also be recycled. If you do not wish to bother with it, have some place change your oil. It will not be your problem, in that case.

Medical waste items

Many households may have medical supplies that cannot be thrown into the trash. Syringes are especially important. There is the possibility of transmitting disease. Anyone coming in contact with syringes may face the risk of being punctured or injured.
