Use Bed Bug Spray To Clear Your Luggage Of Unwanted Travelers

By Aidyn Huffman

Man has had to endure bed bugs throughout his existence. As of late, these parasitic insects have begun to mount a resurgence that is sure to have people itchy and on alert for a long time to come. With a little diligence and a bit of bed bug spray however, frequent travelers can successfully prevent getting and infestation at home.

These parasitic insects set up camp in the sleeping areas of the victims upon which they feed. Humans often play hosts to the bloodsuckers, and common sleeping areas are likely playgrounds for their frenzy of breeding and feeding. Unlike many other insect infestations, a dirty or disorderly environment is not required for bed bugs to find comfortable conditions, which means that you can get bed bugs even if your home is pristine.

Bed bugs are tiny and round in appearance. They are also really good hiders, but with a little searching they can usually be spotted out. Mattresses that have an infestation are usually spotted with tiny dark brown and black dots that are the fecal matter of the bed bug. They usually produce this matter pretty close to where they eat, so it is generally a tell tale sign that they are present when you see this.

If you suspect that there are bed bugs present in your sleeping area you can check under the mattress and along the side of the mattress where the ridged stitch is. They also like to hide behind picture frames that are nearby or behind the bed, as well as behind the bed frame or within any furniture that is directly beside the bed such as nightstands and dressers.

Some people return home from an extended vacation only to find several days later that they keep waking up to itchy red bite marks that literally cover their bodies. It seems unfathomable that the cause of these could possibly be bed bugs. Unfortunately, it is highly likely that the last away trip resulted in a few stow away bed bugs that could have easily been stopped before gaining entrance.

People that often sleep in hotels, motels or the like have a much higher exposure to bed bugs than individuals that do not. You can prevent bringing these little boogers home with you however, simply by treating your luggage before bringing it back into your home. Getting started is quite simple.

Before entering your home, offload your clothing from your luggage directly into your car. Roll your car windows up and place the car in the sun. The temperatures in the car will rise rapidly due to the greenhouse effect. After several hours, the interior of the car will be hot enough to kill any of these blood sucking stowaways.

Before bring you actual luggage inside vacuum it thoroughly and use the hose attachment to get into all of the hard to reach place. Spray the inside of your case to make sure that no bugs are hiding in between the cover and the lining and also vacuum and spray inside of all pockets and compartments, both interior and exterior to the luggage. When you are finished, make certain to empty you vacuum canister before bringing it back in as live bed bugs can travel into you home via this method as well. These extra measures will help you keep you home free of bed bugs.
