The experts will look for eggs, mites and their fecal matter on the skin, and will report this back to the doctor. With a proper diagnosis, you are then able to get good treatment.

You need not worry about total infestation, because there are usually only about ten mites on a person at any given time. Those that are heavily infested are rare like the Norwegian crust scabies, but as mentioned this is in extreme cases only. The common infection is thus readily treatable.
