4. Hot Shower: If you have ever experienced a sauna then you will know that having a long hot shower can have a similar effect. The moist air relaxes both your muscles and nasal passages. If there is a bath tub in your home then having a deep soak can also bring positive results.

5. Balm: A useful way to clear breathing passages and get an immediate response is to use a balm or a salve. These usually contain menthol, camphor, or eucalyptus. When applied to the nasal area they can also provide a numbing sensation.

6. Herbs and Supplements: Studies have shown that the herb Astragalus, as well as Garlic and Colloidal silver can give the immune system the boost it needs to fight back against the flu.

7. Vitamin C: Sometimes it is the most well known remedies that have the best results. It is important to have the correct intake of Vitamin C in our diets to keep our system's defence strong.

8. Support your head: At night you should keep your head raised slightly as then the nasal passages can drain of liquid more easily.
