Yeast Infections And Your Health

By Anne Lemmings

Vaginitis is a common infection among women. Vaginitis is simply put as the inflammation of the vagina.

Vaginitis can come about by a number of causes and it can also take on several forms. Vaginitis often ensues when ones vaginal bacteria isnt able to destroy harmful pathogens.

Among the other forms of vaginitis, yeast infection is probably the most common. Most women are estimated to get a yeast infection at least once in a lifetime. Yeast infections happen when certain pathogens like Candida albicans colonize your private areas. The most susceptible people are those that have weak immune systems.

Its very easy for you to stay away from yeast infections. The only thing that you have to do is to make sure that the normal flora in your vagina is enough to ward of harmful pathogens and keep them from growing in your private areas. This is the reason why womens vaginas are subtly acidic. Vaginal contraceptives and feminine washes alter all this to make women an easier target for yeast infections.

Yeast infections cannot be transmitted through sex. Yeast infections are often characterized by intense itching or, sometimes, burning sensation in your vagina and your vulva. You will notice that your vulva is swelling and a white vaginal discharge. During the time that you have yeast infections, it can be quite painful when engaging in sex.

A pill isnt necessary to treat a yeast infection. In fact, all that you have to do is to pick out a natural cure for yeast infection. Yogurt is a wonderful food that will help you against yeast infections. Yogurt contains Bacillus acidophilus that destroys the yeast in your vagina.

But if you want to stay away from yeast infections even before you encounter them you can always dab a little dilute cider vinegar on your genitalia. Or have some olive lead and grapefruit seed extract drinks.

If that is too much, you can just drink olive leaf and grapefruit seed extract or even cranberry juice.
