Treatment Of Hemorrhoid - Prevention Is Always Better Than A Cure!

By Ai Qin

If you are someone who suffers from hemorrhoids, perhaps you can find comfort in the fact that seventy five percent of all adults suffer from the same ailment at sometime in their lives. But, for a condition that is so painful, its prevention and cure are surprisingly simple.

Also commonly known as piles, hemorrhoids come about whenever the veins around the anus or lower rectum become swollen and inflamed. This brings about bleeding within the anus and it can also cause blood clots. This often occurs during pregnancy, constipation, straining to move stool, anal intercourse, or continuous diarrhea. Symptoms include bleeding from the anus, irritation and itching around the rectal region.

Drink more water, get more exercise, make sure fibre rich vegetables form a large part of your meals, avoid sitting for extended periods, and take vitamin supplements. All these measures increase the body's vascular circulation, thereby strengthening vein walls and making them less susceptible to rupture and swelling.

There are many treatments available for hemorrhoids and this depends on the condition and symptoms. External hemorrhoids that occur outside the rectal canal are with topical ointments and creams to decrease the pain, if detected early.

Surgical procedures are many depending on the severity of pain and inflammation. Most procedures such as Doppler filigation, sclerotherapy and hemorrhoidectomy help remove the haemorrhoid by cutting off the blood supply to the inflamed vein, which eventually causes the Hemorrhoid to shrivel and fall off.

Most surgical procedures to remove hemorrhoids are simple and work on the principle of cutting off arterial blood flow to the inflamed vein, which causes the haemorrhoid to shrivel and fall. Doppler filigation, rubber band litigation, sclerotherapy and hemorrhoidectomy are the most common surgical procedures used to remove hemorrhoids and are all relatively safe and simple surgeries.
