Thrombosed Hemorrhoid Treatment Options

By Heather-Jane Hunter

If you have a hemorrhoid there are many treatment options available today. If you have a thrombosed hemorrhoid then you have a hemorrhoid with a blood clot. Blood clots that develop in hemorrhoids are called thrombosis. Thrombosis is very painful. Not to mention it looks really scary. Most thrombosed hemorrhoids are purple or blue. The thrombosed hemorrhoid will bleed often. Thrombosed hemorrhoids aren't that bad and most of the time will go away in a week or so.

Thrombosed hemorrhoids are extremely painful and sometimes doctors will prescribe pain medication to help with the pain. If it is still unbearable your doctor can remove the thrombosed hemorrhoid. A thrombosed hemorrhoid is the number one cause of anal bleeding. This condition is rarely dangerous but should be looked at by a doctor. Some other serious life threatening conditions can easily be mistaken for hemorrhoids so anytime you have anal bleeding you really need to have it looked at by a doctor.

Any person can tell if they have a thrombosed hemorrhoid for the simple fact the pain is very unbearable. The pain accurse when you use the bathroom, sitting, standing, or even walking. There are some people who choose to have it surgically removed; others fell best to let it go away on its own. The first 72 hours is the best time to have it surgically removed, after the first 72 hours it will be more painful to remove it. Also it will be less comforting to remove it after the first 72 hours. If you chose to let it go away on its own it will become fibrosed and will fix its self unless its severe, then it could take a few weeks

Not letting thrombosed hemorrhoid get that bad it the best way to treat it. Blood clot forming in the hemorrhoids is what causes thrombosed hemorrhoid. When you see small symptoms of irritated or inflamed hemorrhoids you should start treatment immediately!

The best way to treat them is to get the swelling down. By soaking the hemorrhoids 2-3 times a day in warm water you will reduce the swelling. When you reduce the swelling you will get the blood flowing in the veins again eliminating the chances of developing a thrombosis.

By adding more fiber to your diet you can avoid thrombosed hemorrhoids. Adding more fiber to your diet will soften stool causing less strain on yourself when you take a bowl movement. By eating more fruits and vegetables you can decrease weight and increase your fiber intake. What you eat plays the biggest part of preventing or causing hemorrhoids to take place. People whose intakes are higher are most likely not going to have problems with hemorrhoids. People who have a large intake of processed foods are most likely to have major hemorrhoid problems including a thrombosed hemorrhoid.

If you add a lot of fluids to your diet you will avoid these problems. If you don't drink enough water you'll develop constipation. When you're constipated it will be hard to pass stool. This will aggravate the veins in the rectum and that will lead to a thrombosed hemorrhoid. So to prevent this from happening drink a lot of water and eat high fiber foods; you will have a better chance of avoiding a thrombosed hemorrhoid.
