Bipolar treatment is needed on a frequently basis and it is generally part of a lifelong medication of the disorder. Medication is the best thing to do for keeping the warning signs at bay since there is no cure for bipolar.

The importance of Bipolar Medication

A person with the disorder can be helped by bipolar medication to elevate symptoms so they can live a normal life. To provide an overall therapy of the disorder, medication is usually combined with therapy.

When the disorder stops taking their medicine, it will be likely that symptoms will return quickly. Therefore, that people with disorder should never go off their med without talking with their doctor.

Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder. It is characterized by the mood swings from extreme highs to extreme lows. The most common medication used it Lithium.

Sometimes, anti depressants and anti seizure meds are used. Generally, though, moos stabilizers are the very first thing and tried before other meds.

It can take two weeks for the mood stabilizing medication to begin working. It is important that a doctor explain that the medication may take some time to work.

Lithium

Many people know how Lithium works, since it is the oldest drug used and it is the most commonly used medication for bipolar disorders. It is widely known very safe and any troubles with the medications are showed very quickly.

Here are the common side effects from lithium:

* Fatigue

* Diarrhea

* Sickness

* Frequent urination

* Tremors

* Over weight

The bipolar medication used will be taken based on the individual patient. For some people, bipolar does not cause main mood change, but only the episodes are serious.

Occasionally, a doctor will check the patient's mood changes to find out the best bipolar medications would be. But for some people, the depressive attack generally most severe and that is when they would need an anti depressant.
